Perception

Perceptual polarities

The model describes two modes of perceiving: an analytic one, which separates and brings into focus; a global one, which holds the field together.

Analytic and global

The two modes alternate continuously. The work consists in recognising them, in moving from one to the other and in noticing what changes in experience when one does so.

Left and right

Left and right are used here as a functional and experiential model: a map for orienting oneself within what is felt, not a claim about anatomy or about cerebral lateralisation.

The nature of this work

What is set out in this area is an anthropological and experiential model developed by Gaspare Russo. It is not presented as clinically demonstrated neuroscience.

Where relevant scientific studies exist, they are cited as such; where a statement is still hypothetical, the page says so.
